Some of you may be aware of this, but be warned. We got two parking tickets this week in the space of 24 hours. The reason was that our residents permit was due for renewal on the 20th May, but we got no reminder whatsoever. Also, the system has changed so that they work on the car registration number only. There is no need to have the plastic card visible on your windscreen.

Parking services say they only send reminders by email. As they didn’t have an email address for either of us we got no reminder. If you have no email address, then tough! They don’t bother to write to you. Apparently the onus is now on the resident to make sure we have a valid permit. The permit can be renewed online though.

Just to add insult to injury, the person at parking services cheerfully told me that we could now book my visitors’ permits online as well.  I reminded him that we lived in Central Zone and we couldn’t get visitors permits. ‘Oh’ came the response.
